Plea for Quality

Oh, how I wish I could find an easily accessible guide to currently available quality items in any particular field.  I remember the "Whole Earth Guide" of the 70s/80s.  It doesn't have to have the wholesome, self sufficient atmosphere of that era.  Rather a concise, honest appraisal of currently available products - especially the ever changing electronics market

    Can anyone tell me where I can find a guide through the maze of buying a new bed? There are always "specials" going on - but I want to know the best value at any price point - irrespective of dealer. You hear about a new "wonder" material that later turns out to be awful and makes you sweat a lot. What are the best options?
